ACRA Taxonomy Updated - What Singapore Companies Need to Know in 2026

The Accounting and Corporate Regulatory Authority (ACRA) of Singapore has issued updated XBRL taxonomy requirements affecting financial statement submissions via XBRL in 2026. All Singapore companies with statutory XBRL filing obligations should review these changes ahead of their next annual return deadline.

Xberra Tagger's tagging platform has been fully updated to reflect all 2026 ACRA taxonomy changes. All client submissions processed through our platform are automatically compliant - no action is required from existing clients.

Who Must File XBRL in Singapore?

Under the Companies Act (Cap. 50), all locally incorporated companies are required to file their financial statements in XBRL format via XBRL, unless specifically exempted. This includes:

Key Changes in the 2026 ACRA Taxonomy

The 2026 taxonomy update includes refinements to the disclosure requirements for certain financial instruments, updated element definitions for sustainability-related disclosures, and minor structural changes to the balance sheet and notes taxonomy. Companies with complex financial instruments or sustainability reporting obligations should pay particular attention to these updates.

Filing via XBRL

All XBRL financial statements must be submitted via ACRA's XBRL portal as part of the annual return filing process. Xberra Tagger handles the complete end-to-end process - from receiving your financial statements in Excel, Word, or PDF format, to direct transmission to ACRA via XBRL on your behalf.

Supported Standards

Xberra Tagger supports both Singapore Financial Reporting Standards (SFRS) and SFRS for Small Entities, covering all five required financial statement components per the ACRA taxonomy.
